Viña del Mar

One of the most important summer social centers in South America located at only 120 km from Santiago, at a rocky cost with incredible beauty. Until the end of the 19th century it was a farm owned by a wealthy Chilean family and after year became a luxurious and exclusive beach city with fine hotels, modern high rise buildings in the middle of beautiful palm gardens reflected in the blue waters of the Laguna Marga-Marga, earning the name with justice as the "Garden City" (Ciudad Jardín).

During the day, the main activities are enjoying the beaches, specially during the months of December to March, when the ocean front streets become the meeting point of young people, or going to calle Valparaíso, a paradise for shoppers with its attractive boutiques, side walk cafés and bakeries.

Viña del Mar also offers excellent sport centers, from tennis to golf, water-ski, windsurf and others. The greatness of Viña del Mar can be seen at Quinta Vergara and its old gardens and romantic places, where the Museo de Bellas Artes and the fantastic open air stage where many artistic presentation happen and, every year during the month of February hosts the International Music Festival (Festival Internacional de la Canción).
