Valle del Elqui is a chain of valleys along the river Elqui where the best grapes of the country are produced and exported to many countries around the world. Also, from here the main ingredient of Pisco is extracted and its quality is also recognized worldwide. The clearest skies of the southern hemisphere are also found in this area where many important astronomical observatories are located and star watching tours are common here.

This area is also the birthplace of the famous poet Gabriela Mistral Nobel Prize winner and her work and life can be seen at the Museum dedicated to her in Vicuña, the main village in the area. Here you can find many esoteric tourist centers because of the light conditions of the valley.
