Capital of the province of Última Esperanza, located at 249 km south of Punta Arenas on the entrance of the gulf through the narrow strait Kirke and on the horizon, the high silhouette of the Cordillera Riesco. The trip from Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales goes trough the Estepas Patagónicas passing by Laguna Blanca, the small villages of Villa Tehuelches, Estancia Rio Penitente and Morro Chico, an unique rock emerging from the prairie that gives the name to the place. Puerto Natales is also the access gate to the famous Parque Nacional Torres del Paine and to the glaciers Serrano and Balmaceda, besides being the link point with the Argentinean Patagonia trough El Calafate (7hrs by land from Puerto Natales).
