La Serena

La Serena is the second oldest city in Chile, founded in 1554. The city has traces of three ages of architecture: Colonial, Mining Boom and Neo-colonial. Famous is the Iglesia-Museo de San Francisco (1585).

Astronomic observatory

La Serena is also the gateway to the mystic Valle del Elqui and to the astronomic observatories El Tololo, La Silla, Las Campanas and El Pachón.
